The rubber diaphragm is used to support the seat foam. Over time the rubber and hessian materials relax and on occassions may fail completely. Changing the diaphragm will revitalise the comfort and support of the seat foam.
This rubber diaphragm is the original part for the RECARO N-joy seat however it can be used for many of the classic RECARO seats.
Advice for RECARO Ford seats
The original part for the Ford seats is no longer available however this diaphragm can be used as an alternative. The width between the metal rods of the old and new diaphragm must be the same (the width between the rods on a worn diaphragm may increase over time by 10mm or so). The length is not so crucial as it can be cut to the appropriate size.
The original retaining clips need to be used to hold the new diaphragm in position.

10 retaining clips 34mm in length - 5 on each metal rod
If the new diaphragm is slightly too narrow, a new set of holes for the retaining clips needs to be drilled into the frame which are slightly closer together and slightly offset front to back from the original holes.
